Energy consumption of large appliances per dwelling
- EU households consumed around 60% more for small appliances in 2018 than in 2000 (around 1300 kWh in 2018). On the opposite, energy consumption of large appliances has decreased by 24% between 2000 and 2018.
- Small appliances represent now the main share of appliances consumption: 63% of the specific consumption of appliances in 2018 compared to 45% in 2000.
- Energy efficiency of large electrical appliances continues to improve rapidly. However this effect does not counterbalance anymore the rapid growth of the consumption of small appliances.
