Energy savings for households in the EU
- Cumulated annual energy savings for households have reached 103 Mtoe since 2000, which means that without energy efficiency improvements, energy consumption would have been 103 Mtoe higher in 2023.
- Since 2021, the annual additional savings increased to an average of 11.7 Mtoe/year, seven times higher than the average over 2014-2021 when energy savings were only around 1.6 Mtoe/year due to the slowdown in the rate of energy efficiency improvements. Previously, it was around 4.9 Mtoe/year on average over 2000-2014.
