Unit consumption of road transport of goods
- Energy efficiency progress of road freight transport, as measured from the decrease of the road freight traffic consumption per ton-km, has slowed at EU level since 2019 (around 0.7%/year, compared to 1%/year between 2010 and 2019 ).
- However, an accelerated decrease has been observed in road freight traffic consumption per vehicle, measured in toe/vehicle, from 1.3%/year between 2010 and 2019 to 1.9%/year since 2029. This is mainly due to the decrease in load factors (i.e. tkm/veh).
