Final energy consumption by sector in EU
Increasing share of transport (from 27% in 2000 to 29% in 2018) and services (from 12 to 14%). The share of industry has decreased by more than 4 percentage points, from 30% in 2000 to 25.5% in 2018. For households the share is rather stable (27% in 2000 compared to 26% in 2018).
Final consumption by sector (EU)
In almost half of EU countries, transport is the largest energy consumer sector. In 6 countries, namely Denmark, Estonia, Romania, Croatia, Latvia and Hungary, the residential sector is the largest consumer. For the 9 other countries (mainly Scandinavian and Central European countries), industry is the largest consumer.
