Final energy consumption by sector in EU
- Increasing share of transport (from 27% in 2000 to 30% in 2019) and services (from 12 to 13%). The share of industry has decreased by 4 percentage points, from 31% in 2000 to 27% in 2019. The share of households is stable at around 26%, as is the share of agriculture at around 3%.
Final consumption by sector (EU)
In half of EU Member States (14), transport is the largest energy consumer sector. In 6 MS, namely Hungary, Ireland, Malta, the Netherlands, Portugal and Czechia, the residential sector is the largest consumer. For the 7 remaining MS (mainly Scandinavian and Central European countries), industry is the largest consumer.
