Share of industry in final consumption
- At the EU level, the share of industry in the final energy consumption has remained almost stable around 25% since 2010 (-0.3 points over 2010-2023). However, there are significant discrepancies between EU Member States: some countries that had a high share of industry in their final consumption in 2010 have seen this share decrease. This is the case in Romania (-8 points), Portugal (-4 points) and Bulgaria (-3 points). Meanwhile, the industry share is increasing in some other countries to bring them closer to the EU average, for instance in Hungary (+ 8 points) or Latvia (+5 points).
- There are large discrepancies in the share of industry in final consumption among countries: from 15% or less in Estonia and Malta to 42% in Finland.
