Changes in energy consumption and value added of services

  • Since 2019, energy consumption in services has decreased significantly by 2.1%/year, despite growth in value added (+1.4%/year). Electricity consumption decreased only slightly during the same period (-0.8%/year), reflecting an ongoing electrification of the sector.
  • A similar trend was observed between 2010 and 2019, with a decrease in energy and electricity consumption (-0.4%/year and -0.2%/year, respectively), while value added continued to grow.
  • Between 2000 and 2010, electricity consumption of services grew by 3.2%/year, almost twice as fast as value added (+1.7%/year).
